God's Strength

"It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect." Psalm 18:32. (NIV)

In the above verse of scripture, David definitely knew where his strength came from.  God’s Word is timeless and its’ message is just as relevant today as it was long ago.  God is and will always be the source of our strength through our faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.

As Christians, there are times when we will experience some form of spiritual discouragement and depletion.  It will be tailor made for us by none other than Satan himself.  I Peter 5:8 tells us the following: “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (NIV) Satan knows our weaknesses.  He wants us to walk around in despair and focus on circumstances rather than on God.  His aim is to render us so spiritually ineffective that we are unable to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others.

God’s Word and the many promises found therein are very effective strength building tools for our times of discouragement.  Philippians 4:13 says, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (NLT)  As we continue to trust in God's sovereignty, he will renew our strength and transform our faith.  We will then be able to more fully appreciate the verse of scripture found in Isaiah 40:31 which says, “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (NIV)

Going forward in God’s strength—well, there’s nothing like it!  May each of you find the spiritual strength that you need today.
